McGraw-Hill Home Interactive Names Peggy Lanier as Vice President of Marketing

IBM alum brings consumer and education experience to spearhead divisions' marketing efforts

REDWOOD CITY, Calif. June 17, 1996: McGraw-Hill Home Interactive (MHHI) today announced that Peggy Lanier has been appointed as vice president of marketing. In this role, Lanier will oversee the marketing department and provide strategic marketing direction to create successful brand awareness for the MHHI product line.

"Lanier's solid background in marketing education and edutainment products to the consumer market makes her the perfect choice to lead MHHI's marketing campaigns," said Bill Nisen, president of McGraw-Hill Home Interactive. "We are confident that her hands-on experience and proven track record will ensure that MHHI has a strong presence in the consumer multimedia market."

Lanier joins McGraw-Hill Home Interactive from IBM Multimedia Studio, where she managed the company's education segment efforts. In this role, she was responsible for the promotion and worldwide marketing of 15 IBM home education titles. Prior to this, she worked as a marketing programs executive for IBM K-12 Education division, devising a "customer care center" generating excessive leads and revenue. Lanier has also held positions at Jostens Learning Corporation and Computer Associates Intl. She received her bachelor of science degree from Eastern Washington State College

Lanier reports to Bill Nisen, president of McGraw-Hill Home Interactive and replaces Frank Catalano who has been acting vice president of marketing and consulted to MHHI since spring 1995. Catalano will continue consulting to MHHI on marketing and business strategy.

MHHI announced its first four titles this April, which include Dr. Sulfur's Night Lab™, The Fennels Figure Math™, Pony Express Rider™, and Pyramid: Challenge of the Pharaoh's Dream™. These titles will be available on store shelves in November '96 for Windows '95®, and Q1/'97 for the Apple®Macintosh®.
