Kids Explore Chemistry with Dr. Sulfur's Night Lab™ from McGraw-Hill Home Interactive

Science title challenges kids to restore order to a chaotic chemistry lab

REDWOOD CITY, Calif. April 22, 1996: In the safety of a 3D virtual chemistry lab, kids conduct experiments, learn the principles of chemistry and dabble with mysterious substances to restore order to the chaotic Sulfur Institute in Dr. Sulfur's Night Lab™. McGraw-Hill Home Interactive (MHHI) today announced the new science CD-ROM title that combines a realistic chemistry simulator with unique 3D characters that bring chemistry to life. As the leader of a science rescue team, kids are sent to save Dr. Sulfur™ (who has been transformed into The Flying Nose after one of his experiments went awry) and find his missing formulas. Kids must join forces with the doctor's specially-bred animals, such as Alkaline Alligator, Cruncher, and Saltina to explore chemical relationships and principles. The product will be published for kids ages 9 to 14 for Microsoft® Windows® '95 and the Apple® Macintosh® and will be in stores in November 1996.

"This title is designed to present kids with the opportunity to channel their natural curiosity and desire to experiment into an engaging learning experience," said Bill Nisen, president of MHHI. "We believe that the title's entertaining and unique characters and puzzles, combined with simulation magic and solid educational value will make it one of the most popular products on the market."

With The Flying Nose as their guide, kids must manage the lab and Dr. Sulfur's animals while using strategic thinking skills to deal with obstacles and problems caused by the mischievous chemicals called Elemutants. Since the Elemutants have mixed and mislabeled the lab's chemicals, kids must work with the lab animals to test different chemical compounds to determine their make-up. Based on the lab animals' reactions to acid, rusty metals or tiny molecules, kids learn what the compounds are and can begin to restore order to the chemistry lab.

In addition to its compelling puzzles and unique 3D characters, Dr. Sulfur's Night Lab teaches kids about the principles and processes of chemistry and how chemistry is used in the real world.

Dr. Sulfur's Night Lab is expected to sell for $40-$50.
