Nisen heads new division which will bring original multimedia titles to the home

NEW YORK March 29, 1996: The McGraw-Hill Cos. (NYSE: MHP) today announced that it has appointed William (Bill) G. Nisen as president of its newest division, McGraw-Hill Home Interactive (MHHI).

The division, formed in 1995, will publish original consumer multimedia titles that equally emphasize education and entertainment in core subject areas such as science, math, social studies and language arts for children 8 to 14. In his new position, Nisen will be responsible for overseeing MHHI's business objectives and ensuring its successful entry into the home multimedia market by leveraging the McGraw-Hill name and educational expertise.

Nisen assumed his position on March 25 and is based at MHHI's office in Redwood City, Calif. He reports to Robert E. Evanson, executive vice president of corporate development for The McGraw-Hill Cos.

"Nisen's 18 years of experience in the consumer software and interactive media industries made him the ideal candidate to take The McGraw-Hill Cos. into the consumer market," said Harold McGraw III, president and chief operating officer of The McGraw-Hill Cos. "With his expertise and background, McGraw-Hill Home Interactive is ensured that the quality associated with McGraw-Hill will extend into the home."

According to Robert Evanson, MHHI is part of The McGraw-Hill Cos. long-term strategy to leverage its brand and educational knowledge into the consumer market. "Nisen's ability to build and motivate creative teams will position McGraw-Hill Home Interactive to achieve its business objectives," noted Evanson.

Nisen joins McGraw-Hill Home Interactive from Nisen Consulting Ltd., where he provided management and technology assistance to emerging interactive media companies. In this role, he secured financing for entrepreneurial ventures, built teams of highly creative and motivated people, and repositioned corporations to increase stability and growth.

Nisen has consulted for companies both in the United States and in Europe. Previously as president and CEO of OWL International, a joint U.S./ European company, Nisen directed a turnaround of the company, managed its growth, sold it, and successfully transitioned all the operations to Matsushita Electronics Industrial.

Nisen also held management positions at Lotus Development Corp. and Harvard University's Computer Graphics Laboratory. He received his bachelor of arts degree at Dartmouth and his masters degree at McGill University.
